I love quilts, especially antique quilts, either applique or pieced,
and I want to share my journeys in quilting !

But, my "Threads and Treasures" sometimes include embroidery, painting, or spinning wool
and weaving

Quilt Show!

There is a real quilt-show in Caleb's quilt 'All Around the Town'. Only two are outside, the others are in the houses, so I only needed to make two...... They are reproductions of antique Welsh quilts.

This is the one of the corners of the quilt, which is why you have to turn your head sideways to see it all. The tall house should have had 3 rows of 5 windows, but.....I may be able to applique, but let me loose with machine piecing, and anything can happen! I did follow the instructions, but it came out far too big, so I cut off a row of windows.....
The trees are made of small pieces of Kaffe Fasset fabrics I found. They look nice and cheerful.

I altered quite a bit in this part of the block. Because Caleb lives in Wales, I thought there should be a little Welsh cottage with a thatched roof, complete with a 'Ty bach', a small wooden house with a toilet. Just imagine, having to get out in the night when it storms or snows....
There was one of these at my grandfather's farm, but fortunately that was not the only one. The other one was in the part of the farm where the cows were, warm and cosy.
A Welsh lady in Welsh costume is already waiting for you....

This time I had trouble uploading pictures, so I chose the HTML way. Hopefully it will come out right....
Enjoy your day!

Fijne dag!

The Cat House - Het poezenhuisje

Well, I had no idea that it has been two weeks since my last post! First that dreadful back-ache, and then a very bad cold. That is almost gone, but I still have the back-ache. I have been given some exercises to do, and I am sitting here with a hot water bottle in my back (don't laugh!). One of these days I'll have to go and see the physio too. But I do feel that I am alive again, so I thought I'll show a few things. Not that I have done much, I had no energy at all. In between doing nothing, watching a few Jane Austen films and getting spoilt by my beloved husband, I did do a few stitches, and Caleb's next block is almost finished.
The cat is on the roof, furious..... (Cat isn't finished either, still needs eyes and  whiskers...)

Nou zeg!
The inhabitants are probably used to it, with such a high tree next to the house. Do you like the tree? It is made from an old Hawaiian shirt that Caleb's father nearly wore out.
You can see that cat-lovers live here, because even the door-knocker is a cat shape....

Leuke boom trouwens he?
I will have to put a dog in the garden (perhaps he chased the cat onto the roof...) and some birds who are happy that the cat is there...
Here is the whole block:

I also made two very small quilts for the next block, which is going to be a quilt show. Because Caleb lives in Wales I thought it would be fun to reproduce some antique Welsh quilts....

Last night around 10 o'clock we saw this from the sitting room - so beautiful, that river mist in the valley....

Now I'll go back to doing nothing much, but hopefully it won't be too long before I can show you the next block. I think I'll concentrate on this quilt for a little while.
Oh yes, I put the comments on a pop-up page, I don't know if that will help with the Blogger problem? Or perhaps by now that has been solved already....
Have a nice day!

Jane
