I love quilts, especially antique quilts, either applique or pieced,
and I want to share my journeys in quilting !

But, my "Threads and Treasures" sometimes include embroidery, painting, or spinning wool
and weaving

Quilting the town..........Een stadje quilten....

I am having a wonderful time, quilting the 'All Around Town'.
Actually I didn't quite know where to start. The centre, yes, so I quilted the sun, and a bit of the sky, but then I couldn't resist doing the cat first. That fabric was asking for it...

The sky is very haphazard. I don't draw anything, and just follow my feeling....

The hills are fun, too. They are not all going to be the same, but I think I'll do one of these in every border, so I only have to think of 8 more....

Then there is the sea. I was wondering how to do that, when I suddenly thought - sea - fishes...yes!! And there is always one swimming the other way.. (click to enlarge)

Apart from the quilting I don't do much, well, sometimes I wave a duster around, and cook something, and...bake an applecake. A quilter's husband wants something too..... Also it definitely helps with quilting when there is something like that to look forward to! The house smells nice too.

Oh, you want the recipe? Here it is:

200 g / 7 oz. selfraising flour
150 g / 5 1/4 oz. sugar
150 g /  5 1/4 oz. butter or margarine
3 eggs
1 tsp cinnamon
icing sugar
cooking apples
Whisk butter with flour till creamy, adding one egg at the time. Mix in flour quickly. Put mixture in tin and press in pieces of apple. Cinnamon over the top, and icing sugar.
Cook 40 mns. in 180C oven.
When cold, put some more icing sugar over the top, to make it look nice. Enjoy!
It is very quick too, so plenty of time left for fabrics. I could not resist these...

O, willen jullie het recept? Hier is het:

200 g bloem of zelfr. bakmeel
150 g suiker
150 g boter of margarine
3 eieren
1 tsp. kaneel
poedersuiker
3 zure appels
In oven 40 min. bakken 180 C.

There is something lovely between our kitchen and the hall. Every time I come by there, and that is quite often, I look at it, and sometimes stroke it (background is flannel). It was made by my cousin Hetty in Holland, several years ago...

Isn't it a sweetie? And it fits beautifully on that wall.
Now I am going to do some more quilting, but I just want to show you what it was like early this morning....

It was so still, and dreamy...
Have a nice day!

Zo stil was het, en zo dromerig....
Fijne dag vandaag!

All Around Town

Yes! The top is done. My beloved held it up for the photograph.

He also chose the blue border fabric. Caleb's favourite colour is blue, so I think he will like this.
I have added some more things, for example,
a tractor near the farm...

Caleb's initials on the boat, with his birth-day.......

two  dogs look longingly up to the roof where the cat is....(click to see them bigger)..

a few more teddies have arrived to help with directing the traffic to the Teddy Bears' Picnic...

and a little lamb has crept underneath the gate, and is lying in the garden of the little Welsh lady...

In the centre the sun shines on the whole town...

It is a nice feeling that the top is finished. I put it on the kitchentable to sandwich the quilt (we had to eat supper from a tray on our knees), and now I can start the quilt feast (by hand).

For those of you who may have forgotten - this is the pattern 'All Around Town' by Sue Garman. I have changed it quite a bit, but that is the fun of such a pattern.  It is for sale at Melissa's shop.

Autumn is really beginning here. The swallows gathered last week to get ready to fly away...

And the past weekend was like this...

Lovely quilting weather...! But inside the orchid was blooming....

Heerlijk quiltweer dus! Maar binnen bloeide de orchidee....
And today it is summer again!

En vandaag is het weer zomer!
Have a nice day!

Fijne dag allemaal!
