"Bloemetjes...........Flowers"

As you can see, I am not just working on "Love Entwined". Catalina's quilt has to be finished too.

With this one, I was halfway through the blocks...so I am not there yet...

I finished Part 3 of Esther's Love Entwined.

To our great surprise Esther gave all the moderators of her Yahoo group the complete pattern. Isn't that sweet?
Now I don't have to wait for the next part!
And yes, the temptation was too strong.....I started on part 4.
First the vase....

In the vase are a lot of flowers and berries....
Actually I had never done a lot of broderie perse, but it seemed like a good thing to do for this quilt. So I sat there, like a happy infant, cutting out flowers, complete with seam allowances....
Toen even de bloemetjes op mijn overtrekpapier gelegd...

I put the flowers on top of my tracing paper pattern.....
Daarna kon de needleturn beginnen...

Then I could start needleturning....
O, wat leuk is dit om te doen....

Oh, this is such fun to do....
Langzamerhand kwamen er steeds meer bloemetjes rondzweven...

More and more flowers started floating around.....

I had replaced the dark piece under the vase, but I am not sure if this one will stay.....I might put the darker one back in the end. What do you think?

It already looks better with a few more stems....

In the meantime the autumn is coming.
Early in the morning the cows graze in the mist...

And the mist hangs mysteriously over the river....

During the day the sun drives the mist away, and I can sit in the garden.....
En dan zie je dit 's avonds.........mooi he?

Then you see this in the evening....isn't it beautiful?
Fijne dag!

Have a nice day!

Jane

Wow - this is the best part of the LE pattern yet! I love doing broderie perse and you have selected some beautiful flowers. I assume your stems are embroidery? It does look wonderful with thin stems.

As someone who never thought they would applique anything, I've become developed an interest anyway and have a couple of small projects that I am working on. I like reading your blog because you explain your methods so well and I have learned so much already. Thanks so much for sharing your thought process and knowledge. Kathy

Your LE is developing into a truly gorgeous quilt top! I agree that Broderie Perse will suit this quilt/coverlet. Your other applique project looks lovely too.

I just love the autumn, early morning with the cows in the mist, you have some beautiful scenery where you live!
Can't say why but I think I like the light vase the best.

It's a wonder you can take your eyes off the scenery long enough to sew. You live in a beautiful part of the world. I really enjoy watching you work on LE....great work on the flowers.

Groet, Auckje

Catalina is fabulous, you have such a good eye for putting colours together. I am not surprised that you get the whole pattern, well deserved and a chance for us to see how LE evolves. Your flowers are stunning!
The views are beautiful, lovely garden, so peaceful, lovely cows too:))

Jane, Prachtig!!!!

Groetjes,
Floor

What beautiful, beautiful work, Jane! And to manage both getting ahead with LE as well as working on another applique quilt is astonishing! Love both of them.

Part 4 looks like fun! I love BP and the blue bird fabric you have for the vase :)

Your Catalina project is beautiful. You applique is very crisp and preserves the details in the farmer and the lamb. Step 4 of LE looks amazing. Your choice of flowers for the broderie perse work is absolutely perfect.

What a good idea to do those flower in Broderie perse, they look beautiful and you got to start with the applique quicker. Catalina's quilt is coming along well. I find it very difficult to divide my hand sewing time between 2 projects. You do live in a beautiful place.

Ineke (Marcelineke)

Wow Jane -- your work is gorgeous. I so enjoy seeing the quilting on Catalina's quilt -- those blocks are so beautiful. And I giggled that you couldn't wait to keep going on LE -- how fun!

Chris said...

Looks great Jane. I too have wondered about doing some broderie perse for the flowers but will wait to see when the pattern comes out. I am having major back surgery on the 19th so will be delayed some. Hope I can get part 4 prepped beforehand. Thanks for giving the sneak peak so I can think about fabrics!

Marijke said...

It's looking wonderful Jane!

Just a thought regarding Broiderie Perse, I know your love of needle turn applique, but was wondering if the applique wouldn't have been herringbone stitched on the original quilt rather than have a turned edge?

I realise we shall probably never know unless the quilt turns up, but it is an alternative way and very traditionally British!

Eileen said...

Jane, your needleturn is wonderful, and I see that you've done your stemss with embroidery. Is that what Esther recommends? I've never done it, so that's why I'm asking.
Regardless, your quilt is so beautiful.
Catalina's quilt is coming along very nicely as well. She will have a true heirloom to pass on to her children and grandchildren, who will always treasure you through your quilts.
