I love quilts, especially antique quilts, either applique or pieced,
and I want to share my journeys in quilting !

But, my "Threads and Treasures" sometimes include embroidery, painting, or spinning wool
and weaving

It is great that you are visiting, and I hope you feel at home here.

Caswell and janequilter.uk

Thank you for all your commiserations on my previous blog :) This time there are lots of photos... I have also been preparing the next Mary Simon block. It is the only time when I love ironing! :)

In the meantime a little bit of reverse applique in the birds and a rose-bud, and then the end is in sight. I shall show it in my next blog.

"But why does your blog have such a strange title?"
That is because I have started my new website (That will not take the place of this blog, but it will be an addition).
If you click on http://www.janequilter.uk/index.html, you will get to my home page. The link to Caswell is working, the rest is under construction. You can click on all the blocks on the Caswell page and see them large.

Here it is spring too. Everywhere along the country roads are snowdrops and daffodils.

In a pot in the garden the anemones are showing....

.....and our first garden plant, a small Camellia, is in flower!

Last week, on my birthday, we were by Derwentwater, one of my favourite spots in the Lake District.

A few years ago we climbed this mountain, 'Catbells'.

Sometimes we get threatening clouds, but we have not really had lots of rain.

Everywhere around us are lambs, this one is Dutch - a Zwartbles. In England they are called Zwarbles, that is easier to pronounce.

On our walks we see all sorts of sheep, an amazed Herdwick with a Swaledale.

En een Herdwick die water drinkt.

And a Herdwick drinking water.

I never get enough of our surroundings...

When we get home, the hens of the neighbours are running outside.

Last Saturday we went to Scotland to see a steam train charging up Beattock Bank (photo by my husband).

A very British diesel came by as well..

Then we went to Moffat....even there was a sheep :)

We dronken koffie in een Coffeehouse 'The Rumblin' Tum', warme chocoladecake met ijs..mmmmm :)

We had coffee in a lovely Coffeehouse 'The Rumblin' Tum', warm chocolatecake with ice cream...yummm :)

En er was een snoepjeswinkel...

And there was a sweet shop...

Toen nog even in een tweedehands boekenwinkel..onweerstaanbaar.

Then we had to go in a second hand bookshop... irresistible.

And look at the narrowest hotel in the country, the 'Star.

And then the next day my husband suddenly sees this beautiful rainbow from our window.

I shall carry on with my Mary Simon block. A few more days and it will be finished.

Fijne dag!

Have a nice day!

Jane

Just clicked on your Caswell quilt on your website. Thank you so much for doing this. It's lovely to see it so close up. It's great fun recognising and seeing what you have done with some fabric I have. I look forward to spending a lot of time on your new website. I wish this pattern was available in England. I had to get Celebrating Mary Brown from Threadbear in Australia, I am dreading the customs cost + vat on everything.I would have loved to get this one as well.

That was such a lovely birthday Jane thanks for sharing it with us. Laughed at the narrowest hotel My goodness they would have to do a lot of walking to get from on end to the other. Its great to just be able to click on a photo and see it enlarged, they are making it so easy for us now LOL. Would love to visit the second hand book shop one of my weaknesses too. Wonderful stone wall behind the camellia plants. Hugs Glenda

Hi Jane, Love your photos. What a joyful landscape. Like you I'm making the Mary Simon quilt. I've taped the two pages of the first block together and when I compare it with the photo of the original there are two leaves missing plus one leaf only half drawn. Did you see that in your pattern and if so did you just add them in or left them out?
