"Love Entwined - Compass...."

Of course I had to take part in the new 1790 Coverlet BOM by Esther Aliu. Last Friday the adventure started. The next day I could not use my table anymore because there were fabrics everywhere. All sorts of fabrics, many saved up for years, for something special...

From those  I chose some for the first part - the compass...

I decided to hand-piece it.........

First I pieced the quarters, and then I stitched the centre pieces to the light points. (I do like curved piecing). Sorry for the bad photo, it was already dark...

At last I could stitch the last pieces together...
...en hier is het geheel...

...and here it is....

It is so exciting to take part in this beautiful BOM...I am really enjoying myself!
In between I am starting to quilt Catalina's Paradise......First around all the applique...
Fijne dag!

Have a nice day!

Jane

Your compass is so beautiful! I've been really tempted by this project but so worried that I just couldn't keep up -- it looks like it's going to get really intense when it comes time for those borders!

Wow! You are really fast! Your colors will be similar to mine I think! If I find time to make this, it will be in my favorite color palette so I can hang it in my home and admire the hard work! Can't wait to see you progress! It's beautiful!

Oh Jane! Your compass turned our beautifully! Yesterday I downloaded the compass pattern and I am now in the process of choosing my fabric - scary! But I will get there. I guess I've been dragging my feet a bit because the compass looks to be quite challenging and overwhelming! So I really appreciate your post of the pictures and how you have put it together! Once I choose my fabrics, I plan on revisiting this post which will help me put my compass together. What an exciting adventure!!! (I am very nervous!)

Lieve groetjes!

Your compass and your fabric choices are just beautiful. I think that would be similar choices that I would make so I'm going to enjoy watching from the sidelines. Your quilting is gorgeous.

Love the fabrics you have out for LE - and I recognise quite a few oldies there! The compass is so beautifully pieced - clearly applique is not your only great skill!! I am still considering starting LE...just don't have room to spread out at the moment :)
Great start to the quilting - outlining makes the pieces come alive!

Annemieke said...

Eileen said...

Jane, your compass is wonderful! Perfect points, too!
Over the weekend, I tried paper piecing it, I think I'm going to piece it like you did.
Isn't this the most fantastic quilt?

Your stitching around the applique in Catalina's quilt is so perfect. What are you going to do in the background? Echoes?

Annelein said...

What fabulous pictures, I am loving each one and so glad you are sharing your journey with us.

Firstly I have to comment on how well organised your compass was prepared in that pic - that's just the way I do it. Your fabrics are wonderful too, they really speak to me. I am going to enjoy seeing your quilt progress over the coming months.

Prachtig!
