"Zomer...................Summer"

Deze week heb ik maar 1 blok gequilt....

This week I have only been able to quilt  one block..

Even in the shadow of the trees it became too hot..

Eerst de blaadjes,

First the leaves...

And then the bird...
I hope I can do a bit more next week!

But, despite the heat, I have not been sitting still. The compass of Esther's Love Entwined had to be sewn onto the background fabric. I basted it very carefully, so that it would not puff up.
I took a long thread, started in the centre, and basted 'west', then with the other half of the same thread went 'east'.
Then I did the same with another thread going 'north' and 'south', and then in between them.
I also basted right along the circle edge.

Then I appliqued it to the background with needleturn. The basted thread along the edge I took out little by little, so that nothing could shift.

It is done, and it is as flat as a pancake..

Here is the whole centre square of the quilt. There will be lots of applique on it...

And also a zig-zag border with  160 diamonds, they have to be prepared.

It is still very warm, nice weather for the Amelanchier in the garden...

Even at night it looks as if the sun does not really want to go down...

But at last there is a moon, and it is cooler...so that we can sleep for a few hours...

Now I can place the triangles around the compass...

Fijne dag

Have a nice day

Jane

I'm sorry it's too hot to enjoy quilting. What you've done so far looks lovely! The compass block is beautiful. I look forward to seeing the progress of all the applique :0)

Ooh, exciting to see the triangles going down. I am so fascinated to see how people do things so differently and I am learning so much. Your super flat compass is amazing!

Phyllis said...

ineke said...

Groetjes ineke

Groetjes
Wilma

Such beautiful work, no wonder you're an inspiration to us all Jane!

Can I invite you to add this post to the specific Love Entwined Linky? This post is too good not to share!

Ageeth Dorsman said...
